You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You. On this first Sunday of the year, we gather before the throne of grace, entrusting our destiny in your hands because You alone are the way, the truth and the life. We come to You as the Good Shepherd who will guide us, protect us, provide for us, seek and save us, know and love us, and restore us when we go astray.
We also ask for Your forgiveness because we often look to our achievements, spouse, and relationships, to fill up our emotional and spiritual tanks in a way that only You can do. No wonder we are often disappointed. In the New Year, may You help us see not just Your grace, but also Your beauty, so that we may seek You for who You are, and not solely for the blessings You provide.
It’s our privilege to also worship You with our monetary gifts, as a token of our love and commitment to You. We also lift our prayer for CBCGB. As we install new servant leaders today, we thank you for the faithful servants who are finishing their term. May You remember their diligent service over the past years.
Lastly, we will kick off the new year by praying for the missionaries that we support. We pray for their health and spirit so You can accomplish Your work through them. We also pray for their family and co-workers so that You will bless them and comfort them during difficult times. We pray especially for those who face struggles and feel defeated. May You rebuild them and renew their spirits.
We thank you for listening to our prayer in the name of Your son Jesus, Amen.
